What a great dining experience! The restaurant itself is charming and has lovely harbour views, service was excellent and the food was amazing! My partner and I both enjoyed our dinners and drinks and are looking forward to coming back next year. I was especially pleased to see that they offer a variety of cheeses for dessert - the local blue I had was excellent.

Service was GREAT. Atmosphere beautiful. Food - Amazing. We went when we were on our honeymoon - twice. And we were only in the area for 3 days. Had the Lobster Bisque and the Lobster pasta dish. They also put together an awesome Moscow Mule served in copper cups.

Great martinis, great oysters, i had a salt haddock appetizer which was delicious, servers were nice and attentive. I would return again for the martinis and oysters!

Amazingly delicious food. I cannot stress how fabulous this place is! Great views of the harbor inside a beautiful, warmly decorated restaurant. They also have a screened-in porch seating area which is great in the summertime. The bar area is very pretty as well. Every meal I've eaten there over the last three years has been phenomenal, but I strongly recommend the lobster strozzapretti pasta and the cod fritters!

This is my first Yelp review: I was compelled to write it because I was so impressed with my experience at this restaurant. Fiddlers' Green is one of the best restaurants that I've been to in recent memory. I went here with my family and we were all extremely impressed with the food. The steaks were great, but my personal favorite was the duck, a special that was offered that night. We tried both the broiled oysters with cheese and the raw oysters on the half shell -- although the former were good, the latter were far superior. Best of all, the waitress was extremely friendly and not at all pretentious when answering our numerous questions. (Side note: she happened to be a skilled calligrapher, a fact that was revealed when she addressed a gift certificate that we purchased the same night). They also offer a variety of martinis and other cocktails. The price is a bit expensive compared to restaurants in this area, but it's certainly worth it given the quality of the food and service.

This place is amazing! Is was recommended to us by a local in town. We got there very early and sat in a corner table in the enclosed porch. The server was very knowledgable and gave great wine and beer recommendations. When it came time to list the specials 2 out of the 5 of us were chomping at the bit. I ordered a spicy pasta dish and it was HOT and amazing. The server recommended it and she sold me on it. The bread was great, we are big bread people and the scenery can't be beat. By the time we left the place was packed. If I am back in the Bar Harbor area again, I will definitely come back!

Dinner after sunset view. We chose the lobster enchilada appetizer. Nice crispy corn tortilla rolled around tender lobster bits. The red chili lobster reduction was delicious. The ceasar salad was nice and I added a lobster addition. Thankfully it was lightlu dressed. I had a drink that was too strong for me and the waiter observed my inability to drink it. He graciously offered me another one, very nice indeed. Dessert was a nom dairy sorbet-strawberry mango yum yummy

Stopped in for dinner while here on vacation. Ordered the rib eye with the colcannon, caramelized onions and sautéed mushrooms. This was easily the best meal of the trip. The steak was so tender and seasoned perfectly, and all the side items went perfect with it. Will definitely eat there again on our next trip to the area.

After our paddle along the western shoreline of Mount Desert Island we stopped at Fiddlers for dinner. We were seated in the lower dining area and promptly served our cocktails. We ordered a fabulous butternut squash, roasted apple, and pecan salad to share (3) and eggplant lasagne (2) and salmon & crab fried sushi rolls. Both entrees were fabulous! The homemade turtle icecream and chocolate mousse were also amazing!

We almost liked this restaurant. We tried, but everything just fell a little shy of very good, and when you figure in the high-side prices, we came away dissatisfied. Here's a quick run-down why: the halibut ($27), an evening special the night we were there, was dry and bland. Even ground pepper couldn't give it a spark. The tuna sashimi with seaweed salad was ... well, the tuna, sadly, didn't seem raw grade and had a mild refrigerator taste to it (the cucumber salad with it was delicious, however). The crab cakes had a lot of meat (good) but little flavor (bad). In fact, just about everything was under-flavored (did the chef have a head cold on the night we arrived?). An order of scallops seemed a little shy on scallops, which turned out to be on the chewy side. A dirty martini was served with precious little dirt. And perhaps most annoyingly, for a restaurant charging major league prices, the bread consisted of a few small slices of unheated white bread. That's about unforgivable for us. Our waitress was efficient without much in the way of cordiality, though the hostess and bartender had lots of personality -- for whatever that's worth.

The farm-to-table pig was absolutely amazing. Highly recommend the pig!! One of my companions got the seared scallops: "decent tasting but skimpy on the scallops". Another companion got a regular salad; asked for no onions, however salad had onions. Service was good, view of the water was wonderful. Honestly, wasn't terribly impressed as a whole, can only give a 3 star, but the pig was so good I want to add another star... Seriously, get the pig

The ambiance was great as was the service. The food that we ordered was not exotic, but was simple and delicious. For appetizers we had a cheese plate and a cold cucumber and avocado soup, which tasted really fresh. My 2 adult children and I ordered filet mignon and ate everything on our plates. My wife couldn't finish her steak and lobster combination dinner, but happily took the rest home to enjoy for lunch the next day. What compelled me to write this review was the blueberry pie that I had for dessert. It wasn't only the best blueberry pie that I've ever had, it was one of the best desserts I've had. Next time we're in the area, we will certainly come here again.

Our entrees were either tasteless or over seasoned in the case of the trout. The presentation of the dishes were poor. Also, if you request an extra plate to share food with a young child you'll pay an extra $4.00. We'll never return as there are too many excellent restaurants to choose from on the island. I really love anything locally grown. Oysters on the half were very fresh and even had some little flavor of the fresh sea (not dead sea.) Harvest to table time was probably within hours - three hours. In NYC, harvest to table time may take at least 12 hours and then that costs a whole bunch more. The taste of the sea is lost when it is more than a 3-6 hour trip. It is a unique taste and you'll know it only when you've had it. Local greenery, locally caught fish and local animals are what I love eating and the presentation of each dish was very gourmet. Even the desert was something of a local product in that it was designed by the owner's own great granny. A cheesecake with tart fruit and a butter cake base. That was delicious. The meal was a surprisingly gourmet experience on the Quietside. I'm starting to believe that the Quietside is the place to be when Bar Harbor fills with big boat tourists. The decor and the deck were eclectic and lovely.

Fancy food isn't necessarily good food and this restaurant has lots of fancy but mediocre fare. It's hard to explain all the positive reviews but people are disparate for good food in this area and perhaps are tricked by fancy presentations and high prices. I've been here many times as the guest of others and I've yet to have a nice dinner. Their best food comes out of cans. You're in Maine, go for Steamed lobster :)

Very disappointing experience at Fiddlers' Green last night. The problems were mainly with the service, but the food was not stellar either. When we arrived, it took more than 10 minutes for anyone to even acknowledge our presence. Three of the four people in our party have worked in restaurants, so we all understand that sometimes staff get in the weeds, but a simple acknowledgement makes all the difference ("Someone will be right with you"). Instead, we stood in the entry for 10+ minutes as servers and bartender passed us several times. The hostess was clearing and setting tables; and there was no busboy in sight. While we waited, we noticed two cocktails sitting on the bar waiting to be served. They sat the entire time we were there, 10+ minutes, making for watery drinks for some poor customer. The hostess desk and bar area were a mess, stacked up checks and towels on the floor. Once we were seated, it took several minutes before a server showed up. We ordered cocktails and began waiting. She came back a few minutes later to say the drinks were on the way, so we put in an order for appetizers. Thirty (!!) minutes later the apps and the drinks arrived at the same time. By that time, we had been in the restaurant for 45 minutes with nothing but water. Thankfully, they comped the round of drinks. Our server was a very sweet young woman. Still, someone needs to do some training in this place. For the prices (no entree under $19), I expect good service. Don't bring entrees to a table of 4 and ask who got what. Don't leave dirty glasses and plates stacking up even as you add more to the table. Three of the 4 entrees we ordered were fine, if not great. Two of us had the trout served with a Sicilian style sauce of olives, tomatoes, and capers. The fish was cooked well, although I would not have pared that preparation with a side of butternut squash. Someone else got the snapper and enjoyed it. My partner ordered a sort of pork stew over mashed potatoes. It was terrible. The pork was extremely dry, stringy, and tasteless. Big disappointment. We went to this place because we were staying in SW Harbor, and because of all the positive Yelp reviews. Now I wish we'd driven to Bar Harbor instead.

Decent vegetarian options. The Asian vegetarian hotspot wasn't bad. Good decor but pricey. Didn't think the number of veggie options were enough although I'm not overly complaining given its proximity to Acandia National Park.

Superb meal. Great service. I had the chicken and my date had the caprese salad and sausage. The veggies that came with the chicken almost outshone the chicken. Some kind of kale, jicama, and peppers. Fabulous pot de creme to end. Only one complaint: the heat. The wall unit was totally inadequate and we sweated through a five star meal. Thus, I give it four stars.

Easily the best restaurant on the Island I've been to so far. The service was amazing. The food was beyond my expectations. I most definitely recommend the tequila cream & shrimp pasta. Yes this place is pricey but oh is it worth it.

We came to Acadia after several days eating in Portland, so we lowered our expectations accordingly. That said, we were pleasantly surprised by our meal here. The spicing on some of the dishes is very creative, and the vanilla creme brulee that we had at the end of the meal was fantastic.

Love this restaurant. First off, we can walk there which is great for a few glasses of wine and then walk home. The food is phenomenal, the staff is excellent and i love the ambiance of the space. Everything is fresh, locally grown. the menu is inventive and creative without being too confusing. I highly recommend this restaurant. Will re-review in a couple of weeks when we get back from Maine.

Disappointing. Had a reservation - were asked to wait a minute while they cleared a table. Easily took 10 minutes to clear and set up table, and there's nowhere to stand while you wait. You're always in the way of a waiter or a bartender or someone.... Had to ask for bread, which given the prices is surprising. For 3 of us, they brought out 4 little slices of cheap white bread, in a huge basket, which made it look even more skimpy. Had the cheese plate. Cheese itself was good, but only came with 3 thin slices of apple and 3 tiny toasts. And of course by then the 4 little slices of white bread were gone. Had the sesame ginger tofu, and I know, tofu has no taste, but this entire dish had no taste.....except for the watery beets, which turned my quinoa and everything else a soupy beety mess. One of the guys had the pork....said it was tasty, but had huge hunks of fat. There's really no ambience. View is mostly of the parking lot. Not sure what the dining options are in Southwest Harbor, but I didn't think it was worth the trip from Bar Harbor.
